speed work and marmalade

friday morning was chilly!...ok not compared to a lot of places but for austin it was chilly...i was glad that it was not in the 20's as predicted...still i figured that there were not going to be a whole lot of people at the morning run workout...nice...me,laura, elizabeth and carrie...awesome...

lots of power and bursts of speed with some form work in between drill work...i really like these workouts...they are tough but fast...i feel tired but accomplished by the end of them...

when i got home j was still sleeping...oops...he is usually ready for work (having gone to the gym etc) by the time i get home from my morning workouts...so i woke him up...and got him moving with some coffee...he got out the door on time but with a little less time to wake up than normal...

i really just wanted to crawl back in bed...and did for a second...then got up and made the bed as much as i could with two cats in it! and then decided to take advantage of my last days of break and get some cooking in...

this issue of fine cooking had a ton of recipes that looked really good...and i have been making a bunch this week...next on the list was lemon ginger marmalade...i love anything with ginger in it...and really love the combination of lemon and ginger...and the recipe looked pretty easy...calling for lemons, ginger, sugar, pectin...i decided to go for it...it was a lot of fun to make and it made the house smell yummy...got 7.5 pint jars out of it...want one?

two inspectors came for three inspections...we passed them all...framing, plumbing and electrical...yeah...that means we can start on the dry wall...and hopefully we can get that done soon...it's been really cold in the house since there is a hole through to the attic...leaking cold in here...the joys of construction...the studio is moving a long...

made chicken sausage and mushrooms with fresh pasta last night....i actually bought fresh pasta...i know it's easy to make...but i have never had the purchased kind..and wanted to try....it is actually really good...and _very_ easy....

we watched a movie called a quiet man or something like this with christian slater...it was bizarre but good...in bed pretty early...i'm saving up my energy for my long run sunday...off day saturday :)

Whoah! 7 1/2 pints? I didn't realize it would be that much.

Jess...I love ginger, too! And the lemon-ginger combo! If you seriously have extra that you want to get off your hands, I'll swap you for some Jezebel Sauce or some healthy (a.k.a. yummy but without all the guilt!) pumpkin bread! Have a great run tomorrow!!
