up early for the longest run since ironman...i had been nervous about this run all week...trying to figure out if my mind and my body could handle a run of this length with all the set backs i have been having...
amy suggested that i run with rogue...it was a supported run out on the marathon course...cool...i was down...and really glad that i took her up on that...since the rouge store is a mile from my house i decided to run there...and thus either run or walk home...i was thinking walk but if i was feeling amazing i would run...got there just after 7am and was introduced to a few ladies who were going to be running about my pace...i recognized one of them as a woman who i saw all the time last year when i was training full time with rogue...i had always admired her speed...and now here i was in a group with her...granted she is coming back from an injury but still...
started out in a pack of five and we hung that way until about mile 14...it was great...chatting and running at a pretty good pace...someone had on a garmin and the pace was about 9.05's for that first 13.4 miles...sweet...was feeling good...then we stopped for water...hi amy!...and started back up again and i could feel a little something in my knee...hrm...made it to the next stop about 3 or 4 miles later and wow...i was really starting to feel it...and i began to really drop off pace...i hate that...to have a "mechanical" issue when you feel like your lungs/heart could run forever...struggled a bit to the next stop at 30th and san jacinto...then turned on dean keeton and started up the hill there...that is when i really started to question if i was going to finish the run...it is not time to be injured...turned down Guadalupe then MLK...was feeling ok...then the hill on san jacinto...ouch...had to walk a bit...up that darn hill...then down 11th...where i started to feel better...something about the up hill made the knee really hurt...
it's funny i have been so worried about my tight hamstring...and that was tight sure but nothing like what was going on in the knee...so i decided on those last few miles to call performance wellness in the morning to see if they can fit me in sometime....i need to get this worked out...
anyway finished the run...did foot drills...stretched a bit...and walked...slowly home...ice bath...lunch...and some time to put my feet up...i was going to read but promptly fell asleep for at least an hour until j got home from the gym...guess i needed it... :)
had a nice rest of the afternoon baking bread and making dinner...ashton came over...since i missed her birthday party the night before...in bed pretty early...and slept like a kitten
