so monday started with a really crappy swim at barton springs...usually i love getting up and swimming there...makes for a good start...but really this could not have been more opposite...nothing felt right or good about it...got there ~6 so it was still dark in the pool area...i could tell putting my wetsuit on that my heart was not in my work that morning...but i thought what the heck..i'll just get in and swim...and get out when i felt like it...down the ramp and in i went...goggles on and i was off...only to stop a few strokes later due to a goggle issue...ok...back to it...i was breathing hard...and my heart rate was up...i tried to calm my self and take it easy...ok sort of...made it to the end...started back the other way and seemed like i had to dodge everyone coming the other way...so a lot of sighting and a lot less swimming than i would have liked...ended up just doing two crack laps and getting out due to frustration with myself...
home to see j off to work...then i was scheduled for the body fat study at UT...did all kinds of strange tests...and had my weight and body fat done about 8 times...the hardest part was the underwater weighing... i didn't really know what to expect out of a thing that weighs you underwater...i thought it would be like the deep end of a pool...but really it was like an over sized wine barrel that held 4ft of water with a swing hanging in it made out of pvc pipe...you had to let out all your air before/as you went in to the water and hold it for 3 seconds...which seems much longer than 3 seconds when you don't have any air...repeat 10 times...second half is friday then i get 50$ :) and i get to know all kinds of weird things about my body perhaps even my lung capacity...neat
lunch with amy and jeremiah...at mr. natural...on jeremiah...very...very kind of him to treat...due to summer break for me :) woo woo...nice to chat with them both...and hard that i don't get to see amy on several scheduled occasions a week due to the fact that that training group is done...oh well must plan for cooking projects...bagels look promising...but maybe that is just because i am totally craving a good chewy bagel as i type...it's the little things you miss about the north...
off to running ~5.15...monday is specialty run day...and it is always a mystery as to what it is going to be...i was hoping for anything but hill repeats...started with 15m of core...then a 7 minute warm up...drills and two laps of strides...then it was circuit training...15 push ups...run 100m...10 crunched...run back...10 mtn climbers...run 100...10 jump-ups run back...then run something like 1/2 mile (i really have no idea) taking your first left around the blocks in the neighborhood...repeat 5 times for iron distance...i made it through 4 total repeats and then a 5th drill but then logan said to skip the last run...everyone had dropped off...i was the only one still going...it was hard but i could have finished that last lap...oh well...he told me i "schooled everybody tonight" and that felt nice...two cool down laps...
home...dinner...an episode of magnum p.i. (the retro channel is on free tv!)man i totally remember watching it with my dad when it was on...then to bed...just mentally felt off all day...and was happy to be done...

Well, some workouts are just like that, ught. Other than reverse engineering what may have been different leading in to this workout versus others, you did the right thing: give it 10 minutes to see if you get over any initial blahs, usually that's all it takes, but if not, call it a day/workout, regroup for the next one, don't second guess bailing this one or beat yourself up over it. Ah, then schooling everyone else, later! Nice!
